[SN ILK101099] YAMAHA / FGX3 Vintage Natural [11]
The Yamaha FG’s original headstock shape features a logo modeled after a tuning fork. The truss rod cover is engraved with “Since 1966,” signifying the origins of Yamaha guitars.
The top is crafted from solid Sitka spruce treated with A.R.E. technology. Despite being brand new, it delivers a rich tone reminiscent of a well-played instrument, combined with a powerful resonance driven by the warm mid-to-low frequencies characteristic of mahogany. This well-balanced sound is ideal for chord strumming or rhythmic fingerstyle playing.
Solid mahogany is used for the sides and back, delivering the warm, rich midrange characteristic of mahogany.
In pursuit of an ideal warm tone, we have refined the design through a combination of virtual prototyping using the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology and physical prototypes crafted by hand. Compared to the scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS#800 series, we have optimized the bracing to match the characteristics of the wood itself and the specific FG and FS models, achieving further expansion of the low-frequency response.
The newly developed Atmosfeel 3-way pickup system features three distinct pickups that reliably capture each frequency range: an under-saddle piezo sensor for the mid-low range, a microphone built into the preamp for the low range, and a proprietary ultra-thin contact sensor for the high range. By adding a contact sensor made of thin, durable piezoelectric synthetic paper inside the instrument (near the back of the bridge), the system reproduces the cohesion of string vibrations emanating from the soundhole—which conventional pickups could not fully capture—as well as the sustain of each individual string, the tactile feel of fingering, and the airy quality and delicate tones produced by high-frequency harmonics. It delivers the sensation of playing an acoustic guitar unamplified directly through the line output.
The "Atmosfeel" controller unit allows for easy tone shaping by blending the various pickups with extremely simple controls. Use the master volume knob to fine-tune the tonal expression, and the mic blend knob to add body resonance. The Bass EQ controller allows you to adjust the peak frequency of the EQ. Whether you’re a guitarist who needs to cut low frequencies for a band setup or a fingerstyle player looking to reinforce the low end, you can adjust the center frequency band to suit your specific needs, ensuring a reliable tone.
