[SN 81598566] USED Gibson / ES-335 Dot Vintage Sunburst 1988 [10]
1988 ES-335 with minor imperfections now in stock!
The body is laminated maple with a maple center block. Since this was made during the era of plain tops, it has a vintage feel. The coloring is also lighter around the edges, which looks really cool. The neck is mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood. The neck profile is finished with a relatively slim profile overall. It features Grover tuners and dot position markers. While guitars from this era typically come equipped with stamped humbuckers or PCB-style humbuckers, both pickups on this model have been replaced with 2013-made 57 Classic humbuckers.
The body has scuff marks, scratches, dents, and cracks. The pickguard has a generally fine, cloudy appearance with picking marks. There are small, scattered dents around the jack. Additionally, there are scratches across the entire body. The body and neck binding show cracks due to aging. The body sides have scratches and impact marks, primarily on the lower section. The body back has buckle marks throughout, and there are strap-induced scratches around the neck-side strap pin.The back of the neck has small dents and minor paint peeling throughout. There is a crack approximately 4.5 cm long on the underside of the nut, with traces of adhesive. The area around the headstock has impact marks and clear coat peeling. The truss rod cover has been replaced. All hardware shows signs of plating deterioration and tarnish.
Overall, it shows signs of wear commensurate with its age. Additionally, the pickups have been replaced with 57 Classic pickups, which have since become a standard choice for box-style guitars, so this is not a significant drawback. I checked the truss rod.It is tightened quite firmly, and a washer has been inserted to create additional tightening clearance. However, the tightened washer and half-moon washer have dug into the wood, and either because they reached the area outside the truss rod nut washer cavity or as a result of that, a crack has formed on the back of the nut. Please note that due to this condition, no warranty is provided. But rest assured! It produces sound just fine as is, and playability is fully intact!
