We've just received a 1970s SG Standard!!
Based on the serial number on the back of the headstock, we have confirmed that this guitar was manufactured between 1974 and 1975.
It features a 3-piece mahogany neck with a volute, an ebony fingerboard, and a narrow neck with a nut width of approximately 40mm—characteristic specifications unique to this era.
The pickups are Super Humbuckers developed by Bill Lawrence, who was with Gibson at the time.
This model is also known as the "Tarback" due to the epoxy coating on the back of the pickups.
The escutcheon is likely original, though there is a crack in part of the front side.
Only the front volume pot has been replaced; the other three are original. The capacitors and jacks are also original.
The pot dates cannot be verified via solder marks, but the rear tone pot is marked up to 13774.
