The McCarty594, born from a fusion of vintage taste and modern playability, has a coil-tap function, and both the neck pickup and bridge pickup can be used as single coils, allowing for a wide variety of sound variations, making it one of PRS's most popular models. The McCarty594 is one of PRS's most popular models.
The McCarty594 balances a bound 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck with a meticulously designed body thickness for mellow tone and sustain, and a TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process for clarity and a midrange focus. The vintage-style 58/15 LT pickups focus on clarity and midrange through the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process. The tuners are vintage and the bridge is a two-piece type.
The idea is that everything that touches the strings is the most important element of the guitar's sound. That means the bridge, nut, and tuners, to be specific. So in developing our McCarty model, we have up-dated these parts, which has allowed us to significantly improve the tone." Paul Reed Smith said.
In the late 1980s, Paul Reed Smith consulted with Ted McCarty on guitar design and construction techniques, an exchange that later led to the release of the first McCarty in 1994, The McCarty model incorporates all the skills and knowledge that Paul acquired from Ted, as well as a great deal of Paul's own experience as a guitar builder.
Individual Description
Starting with the 2024 model, the peg buttons have been updated to include wing pegs designed to resemble the Cooper's Hawk used in the bird inlays at the 12th fret.
The wing pegs are based on Paul's design from 1982, and are lighter than the old-spec metal pegs, which reduces midrange and sustain decay, resulting in a longer, longer tone and an even more musical sound.
