[SN 310038] USED Gibson / 1967 EB-2D Sparkling Burgundy [04]

[SN 310038] USED Gibson / 1967 EB-2D Sparkling Burgundy [04]

1967 Gibson EB-2D Sparkling Burgundy is now in stock!

The EB-2 is a hollow body Gibson electric bass in a rare color.
The EB-2 was introduced to the catalog in 1966, and the new bass with bass/varitone switch was available with single or double pickups, sunburst or cherry finish.

From the serial, this second model was made in 1967 with a laminated maple arched top/back/side body, Honduran mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard wood material. The set neck system is long tenon and jointed at the 18th fret.

The head with crown inlay has Kluson chrome tuners, a 3-ply truss rod cover, and a "2" stamped above and below the serial number "310088" as a second item.

The unbound neck has a nut width of 38mm, a 30 1/2" scale like the EB-0 and EB-3, and jumbo frets.

The 16" wide body has 1.5" thick semi-acoustic construction, and there is no window in the rear pickup cavity, only a hole for routing material.
The pickups are large coils on the front and sticker-numbered mini-humbuckers in the rear position. There is a bass/vari-tone switch, but the varitone mechanism has been removed and does not function.

The bridge has been replaced with a stop bar tailpiece type instead of a combination type, and there are some modification marks around the studs.
The control knob has been replaced and the wood around the jack has been touched up.

The color is Sparkling Burgundy, a rare color that appeared around 1965, and has faded to a brownish-gold color over time.

There are weather checks, dings, scratches, and wood corrections, but there are no operational problems.
The truss rod is confirmed to turn 60 degrees on both sides.

We cannot say for sure which part is the cause, but there is an unnatural bump on the end of the fretboard, and we suspect that the fretboard may have been peeled off.
