Born from a fusion of vintage style and modern playability, the McCarty 594 features a coil-tap function. By using both the neck and bridge pickups as single-coils, it enables a wide variety of sound variations and has become one of PRS’s signature models.
The McCarty 594 achieves a rich tone and sustain through the balance between its 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck with binding and its meticulously designed body thickness. It features vintage-style 58/15 LT pickups, which undergo the TCI (Tuned Capacitance & Inductance) process to emphasize clarity and the midrange.It features vintage-style tuners and a two-piece bridge.
“Everything that touches the strings is the most important element for a guitar’s sound. Specifically, that means the bridge, nut, and tuners. So, when we developed the McCarty model, we updated these parts, which allowed us to significantly improve the tone,” says Paul Reed Smith.
In the late 1980s, Paul Reed Smith consulted with Ted McCarty regarding guitar design and construction techniques, and that collaboration led to the release of the first McCarty in 1994. The McCarty model is a guitar that incorporates not only all the techniques and knowledge Paul acquired from Ted, but also Paul’s own extensive experience as a guitar builder.

It is in beautiful condition with minimal signs of use. The neck, frets, truss rod, and all other aspects affecting playability are in perfect working order.
